In November 2015, our parent company, GIE Media—a privately held, family owned publisher with 37 years of business-to-business publishing experience—debuted the inaugural print issue Cannabis Business Times, the industry’s exclusive, North American trade publication serving the cultivation segment of the marketplace. In just two years, CBT has become the most well-respected and consumed media among cannabis cultivators.

As we’ve developed relationships in the market and established our footprint at industry events, cannabis retailers have often shared that they’re searching for the same type of focused information, but uniquely dedicated to the challenges of their side of the supply chain.

The truth is, while many hurdles of the cannabis industry are shared from seed to sale, cannabis retailers face obstacles all their own—from training budtenders to become trusted experts, to acknowledging consumer privacy concerns, to making quality purchasing decisions and much more. We have been listening carefully to what keeps dispensary owners and managers up at night. With the launch of Cannabis Dispensary, we are answering the call by strategically investing in valuable, in-depth coverage in both print and digital platforms to address those challenges head-on as a committed industry partner.

It’s certainly an exciting leap into an industry that GreenWave Advisors projects to reach $30 billion in retail sales by 2021. And while it may not be an easy road, providing cannabis dispensaries with the intelligence to offer safe medicine and products and end prohibition is an endeavor that’s certainly worthwhile. There’s no shortage of opportunity in this space, and we’re looking forward to what the future holds.
